Key achievements 2025
- 09 January 2026
2025 marked a pivotal year in accelerating global action to end violence against children, with the expansion of the unprecedented ongoing mobilization, strengthened multilateral cooperation, and renewed national commitments to deliver transformative, evidencebased solutions for children and their wellbeing. Against a backdrop of complex crises, widening inequalities, and rapidly evolving risks, States, international organizations, civil society/faith-based organizations, and children themselves demonstrated strong leadership to advance child rights, strengthen protection systems, and build safer, more inclusive societies.
The Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children (SRSG-VAC) and her Office played a central convening role in driving this momentum. Through strategic advocacy, highlevel political engagement, knowledge brokering, and inter-agency coordination, the Office supported Member States in their efforts and renewed commitments to elevate child protection and wellbeing as a national priority, and to invest in child protection as a foundation for human capital, sustainable development, and social cohesion. Children’s voices and experiences continued to shape policy processes, reinforcing their role as active partners in change.
