A collaborative platform built by and for Member States

The Pathfinding Global Alliance on Ending Violence against Children emerged from an extensive consultative process launched in January 2024, involving Member States, regional and subregional organizations, United Nations entities, civil society organizations, faith-based organizations, the private sector, development partners, academia, and children and young people.

United Nations General Assembly

The United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution A/RES/80/190 "Rights of the Child" on 15 December 2025:

  • "Recalling that 2026 marks the twentieth anniversary of the United Nations study on violence against children to the General Assembly, welcoming the efforts of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children and of Member States and partners in following up on the recommendations of the study, and noting the launching of the Pathfinding Global Alliance on Ending Violence against Children during the first Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence against Children, in Bogotá on 8 November 2024, as a contribution and an accelerator of the prevention and protection of children against violence in following up on the recommendations of the United Nations study on violence against children"

State Ownership and Multistakeholder Approach

The Alliance is a State-led platform that brings together Member States and key stakeholders across sectors to advance coordinated and inclusive action to end violence against children.

Translating Political Commitments into Concrete Actions

The Alliance supports Member States in translating political commitments into sustained, evidence-based action, including through strengthened peer-learning, policy development, and service delivery.

Facilitating exchange and cooperation

The Alliance enables Member States and partners to connect, share ideas, actions, and common concerns without adding a new bureaucratic layer, while fostering bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

A platform to share ideas, actions, and common concerns

The Alliance provides a secure platform for Member States and partners to connect, share ideas, actions, expertise, and common concerns; access practical tools; engage in peer learning; and facilitate bilateral and multilateral cooperation across regions.

From Commitment to Action: How the Alliance Works

UNICEF, with the support of the Global Programme to end Child Marriage (GPECM), produced and painted a graffiti on the walls of a secondary school in Monapo district (Nampula province) to sensitize the community on the negative impact of child marriage and on the appropriate reporting channel to follow (Child Helpline 116). Protecting children and adolescents from violence in both humanitarian and development settings is an important shared priority for UNICEF and the Government of Mozambique.

High-level Political Commitment

The Alliance builds on an extensive consultative process initiated in 2024, including engagement with Member States and stakeholders, a first multistakeholder technical workshop, and the Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence against Children.

Regional and National Priorities

Member States advance costed, cross-sectoral national roadmaps to translate commitments into coordinated implementation and measurable results for children.

The carriage, introduced through a partnership between UNICEF and Ukrzaliznytsia, aims to create a safe and engaging travel environment for young passengers. St Nicholas, who visited the station to mark the occasion, distributed gifts to children, adding to the festive atmosphere of the launch.

Strengthening Peer-learning

Through regional and global engagements, countries review progress, exchange experiences, and identify priorities to accelerate action.

Continuous Engagements

Progress is supported through ongoing engagement, including the Marketplace for Knowledge Sharing and the Investment Case Toolkit, as well as regular opportunities to assess results and define next steps.
