The Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children, with the support of UNICEF Innocenti, have convened a global expert’s consultation to discuss the growing impact of bullying and cyber-bullying on children.
Launching the new children's rights strategy, Sofia, 5-6 April 2016
A new Council of Europe Strategy for the Rights of the Child is to be adopted by the Committee of Ministers in early 2016. The Strategy, which was drafted over the past year by Council of Europe member States in co-operation with civil society and other stakeholders, will be launched on 5 and 6 April 2016 at a high-level conference in Sofia, Bulgaria.

SRSG Santos Pais visits Abuja and Lagos to support the launch of the Government’s Violence against Children Survey and efforts to implement the Nigerian Year of Action to End Violence Against Children. She will hold discussions with senior officials of the Government of Nigeria and other key stakeholders on the importance of using data and research to shed light on the hidden face of violence and to implement evidence-based policies and campaigns to end violence against children.
SRSG Santos Pais will visit Jakarta for a dialogue with the ASEAN Commission on the Protection and Promotion of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC). This year ASEAN begins implementation of its new Regional Plan of Action for the Elimination of Violence against Children 2016-2025.
This year, 2015, marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child.
