SRSG Santos Pais will moderate a cross-regional panel of high level experts in the fields of public policies, ICTs and children’s rights aiming at the empowerment and protection of children from sexual abuse and exploitation through information and communication technologies (ICTs). 

The event is co-organized with the Government of Belgium and will count on the participation of HRR Queen Mathilde, Queen of the Belgians as key-note speaker.

The Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General on Violence against Children in collaboration with Plan International are co-organizing an Expert Consultation on “Strengthening Communities to secure children’s right to Freedom from Violence”. The two day consultation is sponsored by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Klaekken.

SRSG Santos Pais is  co-hosting a side-event at the Third International Conference Financing for Development with the Government of Canada, UNICEF and the Child Focused Agencies on 13th July, “Sustaining Investments in Childhood - Preventing Violence against Children and Keeping Them Safe”.

SRSG Santos Pais participates in the Third International Conference on Financing for Development taking place 13–16 July 2015 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Conference brings together Heads of State and Government, and Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, as well as relevant institutional stakeholders, non-governmental organizations and business sector entities to discuss the means of implementation for the Sustainable Development Agenda.

On a three day visit to Panama, SRSG Santos Pais will meet with government officials and civil society representatives to promote the adoption of global national strategy/roadmap on violence against children and the adoption of legislation to protect children from violence.

SRSG Santos Pais participates as keynote speaker at the First Regional Summit on Digital Literacy and Citizenship "Technology for a Better World" which takes place on November 5th and 6th in Tecnopolis, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The promotion of a safe, inclusive and empowering digital agenda for children is a key priority for the mandate and indispensable strategy to protect children...

The report outlines the scale of different forms of violence against children and the imperative to act with a deep sense of urgency to bring them to an end. Children around the world continue to be exposed to physical, psychological and sexual violence, often in a pervasive, corrosive, hidden and concealed manner.
