Child safeguarding
- 20 July 2022
Child safeguarding means making sure children are safe, well, and protected from all forms of harm and violence. Anyone who works with or for children has a responsibility to ensure their safety. When children take part in activities, like online events, their privacy and safety must be protected, for example, by using only first names, disabling chat, and turning off microphones and cameras. If pictures or recordings are used, children and their guardians must give consent. If a child feels unsafe or uncomfortable, they should talk to a trusted adult or reach out to a child safeguarding focal point. It is every child’s right to be protected, and there are safe and anonymous ways to ask for help, like calling a child helpline. Your safety always comes first.
