The Pathfinding Global Alliance on Ending Violence Against Children brings together countries and all relevant stakeholders committed to accelerating efforts to end all forms of violence against children by 2030 and beyond, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and child rights standards.
It was launched on November 7, 2024, in Bogotá, Colombia, during the first-ever Ministerial Meeting on Ending Violence Against Children. This movement was created from the understanding that despite numerous efforts, violence against children remains widespread.
Every year, at least one billion children are subjected to some form of violence, and the world is far from achieving the goal of ending violence against children by 2030. Given the cross-sectoral and international aspects of violence against children, along with its intersectionality with gender-based violence, there is an urgent need for cooperation. Through a cross-sectoral and multistakeholder approach, it involves States, regional and subregional organizations, UN entities, CSOs, faith-based organizations, the private sector, development partners, experts, academia, the media, local communities, survivors, children, and youth. The Pathfinding Global Alliance provides a platform for partners to share information, promising practices, and lessons learned, collaborate, and demonstrate progress. The Alliance seeks to enhance country engagement, foster stronger connections to local realities through a bottom-up approach, promote peer learning, and reinforce peer accountability. It will provide opportunities to strengthen coordination, support integrated service design, and assess the cost of violence and return on investments.
Under the Alliance, a digital Marketplace for Knowledge Sharing is being set up for countries to exchange expertise, resources, and solutions. Users will be able to learn from diverse perspectives and connect with experts across various fields. The platform will include an extensive knowledge base to support evidence-based contributions and will promote communities of practice to enhance cooperation at national, regional, and international levels. The Alliance will consist of the Pathfinding Coordinating Group (PCG), the Core Support Group (CSG), and the Secretariat. The specific structure will be discussed and defined during the Regional Meetings scheduled for 2025.
