Welcome to the regional meeting of the Pathfinding Countries in Africa
Ministers and representatives from twelve African nations (Angola, Botswana (online), Burkina Faso, Guinea, Kenya, Ivory Coast, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe), regional bodies, UN agencies, civil society organizations, survivors, and children gathered in Abuja for a crucial two-day meeting to advance commitments under the Pathfinding Global Alliance on Ending Violence against Children. Hosted by the Government of Nigeria on May 7–8, the event was convened in close collaboration with the Office of the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence Against Children (SRSG-VAC), UNICEF, and CIFF. The meeting brought together over 100 participants and was a significant opportunity to strengthen Africa’s representation in the Global Alliance, share promising practices, and discuss national strategies and innovations. It also marked the launch of the Marketplace for Knowledge Sharing and the Toolkit on Building the Investment Case for Ending Violence against Children. Children and civil society organizations called for stronger accountability and more effective implementation. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to transform momentum into measurable results.
