A safer digital environment for children

Children live in an interconnected, digital world. More and more children are online, and at younger ages, which brings with it a wide range of risks. These include cyberbullying, online sexual exploitation and abuse, exposure to violent content, trafficking, and recruitment into criminal groups. Violence against children online is vastly under-reported and under-prosecuted. Prevention must be the priority. Children must be empowered with knowledge and skills to keep themselves safe online, but the burden of protection must not fall on them alone. Businesses must be required to prioritize children's needs and incorporate the rights of children to safety and security into their business models. Children are part of the solution and must be involved in shaping a safer digital environment. Now is the time to act.
