Child trafficking is increasing: We need to take action now

Child trafficking is increasing and is a serious crime and a violation of human rights. Traffickers trick or force children into exploitation, including forced labour, sexual exploitation, child marriage, and illegal adoption. Children are vulnerable during crises like war, poverty, and natural disasters, and traffickers benefit from this. Digital technologies make it easier to recruit and manipulate children, often using social media and chat. Many children do not report trafficking because they are scared, don’t know how, or fear being judged. To end child trafficking, we must address children’s vulnerabilities, the growing demand, and digital technologies, and make sure the justice system is fair and child-friendly. Children are part of the solution.
