9月25日星期五，联合国会员国一致通过了新的全球可持续发展议程。新议程首次列入了一项关于终止一切形式暴力侵害儿童行为的具体目标(16.2)，终止虐待、忽视和剥削儿童行为也被纳入其他几个与消除暴力有关的具体目标的主流。现在应该庆祝新的发展议程获得通过，并强调国际社会如何能够为全世界儿童实现目标16.2的愿景。
儿童的尊严及其在没有暴力和恐惧的情况下生活的权利首次被确认为国际发展议程的一个独特优先事项。
